The user XXX \ Administrator isn’t assigned to any management roles

Problem

After installing Exchange 2010 you try and run the exchange management console and you see the error below

Solution

1.)This is down to one or two things, the first and most simple thing is make sure your logged into the server as the correct user.

Make sure you login is ‘domain\administrator‘ not ‘server\administrator’.

To check run a command prompt and type ‘whoami

2.) The account your logging in as MUST be a member of  the groups below.
